INDIANAPOLIS,Ind. (June 20, 2015) – A woman was found safe late Saturday night, nearly an hour after crews called off their search for her.

The woman was identified as 45-year-old Cindy Cannon.

A caller reported a woman had jumped into the creek and had been swept away by the current.

A witness told police the woman was distraught when they saw her go into the water around 9:15 p.m.

Search crews and divers were assembled along the creek and to the south of that scene.

22 firefighters and 40 police officers searched the area of Eagle Creek, south of McCarty Street near Tibbs Avenue.

Crews searched on foot along the bank, as well as in the water and from the air in a police helicopter.  Crews reported finding nothing and a decision was made around 10:50 p.m. to call off the search due to dark conditions.

Then her family says she walked back to her residence just before midnight. They say she was in the water for over an hour.
