INDIANAPOLIS – Crews rescued a man Friday afternoon following a construction accident near the Indiana Statehouse.
The 22-year-old worker from Sexson Mechanical was working on pipes in a utility area when he was injured. He was on scaffolding about 20 feet in the air but couldn’t get down. Officials from the Indianapolis Fire Department said he was conscious and alert.
It happened at the Government Center on Senate Avenue.
IFD deployed a Tactical Rope Rescue Team to secure the man and lower him to the floor. The rope rescue was successfully completed around 12:50 p.m. The man was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital for evaluation.
