ROCHESTER, Ind. (March 16, 2015) – Police arrested two Rochester men after discovering a meth lab inside a Fulton County home.
Officers from the Indiana State Police Peru Post Methamphetamine Suppression Team and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, which began Friday night. Police were serving an arrest warrant for a parole violation involving Jonathon Carpenter, 31, at a home on 4264 McCarty Lane.
Another man, Justin Chapman, 27, answered the door. Investigators immediately noticed the smell of chemicals associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. A sweep of the home revealed items and materials used in the manufacturing of illegal drugs, police said.
Officers obtained a search warrant. During the subsequent search, they found methamphetamine, a meth lab, chemical drug precursors, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They also found a rifle and a shotgun.
Carpenter and Chapman were taken to the Fulton County Jail on multiple drug-related charges:
- Carpenter: warrant for parole violation, possession of an illegal drug lab, dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with a previous conviction, reckless possession of drug paraphernalia
- Chapman: possession of methamphetamine, possession of an illegal drug lab, dealing methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, and reckless possession of drug paraphernalia
