(Aug. 27, 2015) -- If you’re planning any home projects, there are several things on sale right now that could save you money.
Labor Day marks a major push for retailers. That’s because most home projects will wrap up before the holidays. Retailers like Lowe's have cut prices on at least three major items: appliances, plumbing and painting.
“People are working on their last minute projects, interior as well as exterior, and for deck resurfacing. So right now, paint gallons are going to be $10 back. Our larger five gallon buckets are going to be a mail in rebate of $40,” said Arianna Taylor, a paint specialist at Lowe's.
You can also ask for mistints for as low as $2.50 a quart. Another way to save is to buy paint kits, without buying stuff individually.
Plumbing departments are also having sales of up to 30% off at most big box stores throughout the Labor Day weekend.
“Right now we have sales on faucets, toilets, toilet seats, vanities, pretty much anything you're looking at to redo a bathroom,” said Todd Byczek, manager of Lowe’s NE Indianapolis.
Don't forget, whether it's plumbing, paint or appliances, whatever you buy, come in with a plan.
“You want to think about your space, what you need it for, and how big your family is. You also don't want to buy something you don't need, but something that's going to accommodate you and something that will work for you,” said Lisa McGillem, an appliances sales specialist at Lowe's
While price is important, getting quality items can save you just as much in the long run. Make sure to compare reviews for brands and individual items before you buy.
