SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — Federal agents spend several hours raiding a home in Shelby County.

Multiple agencies were called to the scene Wednesday near U.S. 244 and I-74. The property sits adjacent to I-74.

During the search, agents could be seen briefly digging near the side of the house and officers were using a metal detector to sweep the property.

Federal agents would confirm very little about the motive for the search at the home, but some of the family members who live in the home have long criminal histories, including federal child porn charges filed last month.

Loading computers and other electronics into trailers, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) led the investigation, but would not comment on the exact reason for the search. Still, a search of court records shows it’s not the first time federal investigators have looked into the family.

A federal indictment filed in early May accuses Robert Mason Elliott of sexual exploitation of a child, as well as possession and distribution of child pornography.

The federal indictment claims, dating back to 2017, Elliott shared multiple videos on Facebook Messenger of himself and an underage girl performing sex acts together.

The 25-year-old man has also been previously convicted of theft, obstruction of justice and intimidation in Shelby County.

At the same time, court records show this week deputies in Shelby County arrested Robert’s mother, Deborah Elliott, for allegedly violating terms of her home detention from a previous battery case by communicating with Robert while he was in jail.

Robert’s attorney says his client is currently in federal custody in Kentucky, while his mom is being held without bond in Shelby County.

For the time being, it’s not clear how their criminal pasts tie into the FBI raids Wednesday morning.

Robert Mason Elliott is scheduled to have a federal jury trial in October in Indianapolis.
