TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Nov. 19, 2013)– Early Tuesday morning, deputies from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office were called in reference to a semi tractor trailer crash with entrapment.
Alves Oriovaldo, 59, of Davie, FL was traveling northbound on US 41. When the road took a curve around Evans Ave., Oriovaldo lost control of the semi. He veered off the right side of the road and the semi rolled over, dumping all the lumber in the trailer in the yard of the Terre Haute Bible Center.
Oriovaldo suffered a possible wrist fracture. A passenger in the semi, Oliver Ortega, 38, suffered a head injury. Injuries did not appear to be life threatening, and both men were taken to Union Hospital. Seat belts were credited for preventing more serious injuries.
Deputies were able to keep traffic flowing on US 41, but the clean up process took approximately three hours. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor and no arrests were made.
