Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a semi-truck driver after he was involved in a hit and run accident on southbound I-65. It happened just before midnight Saturday near the 143 mile marker.

Deputies say the semi was travelling in the slow lane of a construction zone and was merging left when he hit a Chevy pickup truck. The semi driver left the scene but deputies were able to pull him over a short distance later.

The driver has been identified as 62-year-old Dragisa Cvetic of Hinsdale, IL.  While searching the semi, deputies found three loaded hand guns within the driver’s reach. They also found two cases of beer, one being in a cooler.

Authorities said Cvetic does not have a conceal carry permit. Representatives of the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit also found Cvetic had been driving for three hours over his federal allotted time.

Cvetic was arrested on the charge of possession of handguns in a vehicle without a permit.
