Shooting on Indy’s near northeast side leaves 1 dead, 1 critically wounded

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating a double shooting on Indy’s near northeast side that left one man dead and another in critical condition Friday.

The shooting happened in the 2000 block of Roosevelt Avenue shortly after 9 p.m.. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound the man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

While police were investigating the scene, they learned of another victim. That man was found inside a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the scene, looking for any witnesses. Police say it is too early in the investigation to determine if the shooting is connected with the nearby deadly shooting on Parker Avenue.
