AFGHANISTAN – A group of soldiers deployed in Afghanistan created a Memorial Day tribute song as a reminder of the true meaning of Memorial Day.

First Lt. Justin Wright, of Tallahassee, Florida, and First Lt. Andrew Yacovone, of Hollister, California, met on their first day of infantry basic training in 2014. They both realized they shared a love for making country music, and they started recording songs together.

The duo called themselves Interstate 10, and they continued making music while deployed in Afghanistan. On Saturday, they released a Memorial Day tribute music video called “I’m Gonna Miss You.”

“Memorial Day is about remembering the ones we lost and supporting their loved ones. It’s about celebrating the lives they lived. Thanking them for allowing us the opportunity to come home safe, and most of all, thanking them for a second chance to hug our loved ones,” Wright and Yacovone said in a statement.

The duo vouched to donate $500 to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation if they reach 100,000 views on the YouTube music video between Friday’s release and midnight of Memorial Day, and as of Monday morning they had over 200,000 views.
