INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 20, 2015) – A steel coil fell off a semi truck Tuesday morning, backing up traffic on I-69 ramp near I-465 southbound.

The accident happened around 9:15 a.m., according to Indiana State Police. The coil unraveled more than 200 yards on the right shoulder. State police said traffic was backed up more than a mile on the northeast side.

The scene took several hours to clean up. The right lane of the southbound I-69 ramp was closed although the ramp itself remained open. By about 1:50 p.m., all lanes had reopened on the ramp.

State police said the truck driver was cited for insecure load and taken out of service.
