GREENWOOD, Ind. (April 8, 2016) - A store clerk was beaten after she confronted a group of shoplifters. The violent fight happened a couple weeks ago at the Greenwood Park Mall.

21-year-old Chabrie Turner tells us she saw a group of four women steal a purse from Icing, the store where she works. Turner followed the women into the mall and confronted them.

“They kind of got mad because they got caught stealing but I was able to retrieve the item from them,” said Chabrie Turner, the victim who was attacked.

Turner took the purse and went back to her store, thinking the problem was solved. Minutes later, police say the same group of four women returned to the Icing with one mission.

“I’m going to say, yes they came back with the intention to harm her, yes,” said Kortney Burrello with the Greenwood Police Department.

The four women ganged up on this one clerk.  They allegedly punched, slapped, and kicked Turner several times. Pictures show the swelling, bruises and bloody gashes on Turner’s leg, face and neck.

“The next thing I know I was getting attacked by two girls and then of course the others jumped in at the time. At that point I was just fighting for my life,” said Turner.

The fight spilled from the store into the mall before the suspects took off. Police have released surveillance pictures of the four women they believe are behind the attack. The suspects are described as women in their late teens to early 20’s.

If you recognize any of the suspects in the surveillance pictures you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
