Severe weather returned to central Indiana on Sunday, and many counties were under watches and warnings for most of the afternoon through the evening hours.

There was significant damage reported all throughout the area.

The National Weather Service confirmed these tornadoes and provided preliminary ratings:

  • One EF-1 tornado in Muncie
  • One EF-1 tornado in Springville
  • One EF-2 tornado in Delaware/Jay County
  • Three tornadoes (one EF-0 and two EF-1) in Salem

Additionally, the storm cell over Jay and Blackford Counties did some of the worst damage.

Many people in Muncie are also working to clean up storm damage. For the most part, high winds are to blame, and there are a lot of downed trees, street signs, and even a stoplight is out. There is a 200-square foot hole in the roof of Muncie Fieldhouse after part of it caved in, allowing water to spill onto the basketball court and gym floor.

Here’s a collection of storm pictures sent to us throughout the area.
