INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Marian University students, community volunteers and local sponsors got to work Friday morning at the Fox59 Habitat House.
The house, now on its foundation on Kenwood Avenue on the near north side of Indianapolis, began with a panel build September 13 in the Fox59 parking lot.
On Friday volunteers from Marian University and United Water as well as Fox59 viewers added siding to the house.
Homeowners Cleo and Kara Allen have been working alongside volunteers.
Habitat for Humanity partners with companies, organizations and individuals to make affordable homes for low-income families. Families must invest up to 450 hours of “sweat equity” working on their own house and other Habitat houses and take financial planning courses to be eligible for ownership.
Next week volunteers will do landscaping work at the Allen’s home. Interested volunteers can check out this site.
