INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 17, 2015) – Police have made an arrest in a Friday evening shooting that left one man dead.

IMPD responded to the report of a person shot on the 700 block of East 30th Street around 7:30PM. When officers arrived, they found a Honda van that had crashed into the curb and the victim, 40-year-old Gerald Eldridge, lying face-down in the grass nearby. Eldridge was pronounced dead on the scene.

25-year-old Lamar Wooden was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder.

Police say Eldridge and Wooden were attending the same birthday party when Eldridge decided to leave due to prior encounters with Wooden. That’s when Wooden allegedly begin firing shots at Eldridge’s car. He then got into a gray Camaro himself and began chasing Eldridge along westbound E 30th Street. The victim’s car crashed, and Wooden fled the scene.
