INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 4, 2014) – A suspect is in custody after a police chase ended on near west side train tracks Monday night.

The chase began when police began following a stolen truck around 11:15 p.m. A male driver and a female passenger were in the vehicle as it headed toward the Mars Hill area.

The driver jumped out of the truck and took off on foot. The female passenger moved into the driver’s seat, and continued to lead police on a chase.

She eventually ran into the train tracks near the intersection of Washington Street and South Belmont Avenue. After the vehicle got stuck on the tracks, she left the truck and ran off. A K-9 unit eventually caught her.

Police had to call the train company and tell them to stop all traffic on the tracks while officers cleared the scene. Train traffic is back to normal schedule.
