Suspect sought after assaulting officer, stealing baby formula

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a man wanted for assaulting a security officer after he was stopped for stealing baby formula.

Police said the man is wanted on theft and battery charges stemming from an incident on Nov. 24, 2012 at a Kroger store at 4445 E. 10th St.  Surveillance footage captured the man putting a can of Enfamil baby formula into his pocket.

As the suspect was leaving the store, he was stopped by a security officer, who advised the suspect to return to the store.  Police said the man walked back into Kroger, where he punched the officer in the stomach before fleeing the building.

The suspect was last seen getting into a red-colored Savannah full-sized van.
