Suspected drunk driver sends IMPD officer to hospital

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 27, 2016) – An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer was taken to Methodist Hospital after his squad car was rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver Saturday morning.

Police say the officer was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Morris and Meridian Streets around 5:30a.m. when a black SUV plowed into the back of the police car.

The SUV driver and officer both complained of neck pain after the accident.

Police said the accident resulted in a DUI investigation involving the SUV driver.
