A Connersville man was arrested Saturday morning after trying to run over a trooper. Around 12:40 a.m., Pendleton trooper Aaron Edwards attempted to stop a truck driving without headlights. But the suspect took off at a high rate of speed, north of Connersville on State Road 44.

The truck, driven by Chad Neukam, ended up on Columbia Rd., smashing into a tree, in a field. When Edwards went to check on Neukam, the suspect put the truck in gear and tried to run the trooper over.

Edwards wasn’t hit though, he got out of the way quicklyand fired a round at Neukam. That’s when Neukam stopped and was taken into custody. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.
