HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — It was a scary night for campers in Hancock County when a man with a gun started firing off rounds in a field just off Interstate 70, Sunday

It all started around 5 p.m. at the KOA Campground on Mount Comfort Road.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Officers originally received a call about a suicidal man with guns.

While officers were working to get a search warrant to arrest the man, the Sheriff says the suspect left his camper and walked to a nearby  field where he started firing off shots.

The Hancock County SWAT unit was called to the scene.

Officers were able to subdue the man  with less than lethal force.  No one was seriously injured.

The man was taken into custody .  According to Hancock County Sheriff Michael Shepherd,  the man will be evaluated to see what kind of help he needs.
