INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A suspect is in custody after a standoff with the SWAT team downtown Wednesday evening.
Officers were called to Barton Tower, which is an apartment building on Mass Ave, just before 9 p.m.
Officials said the suspect has emotional issues, and when his mother tried to enter the 19th floor apartment, he refused to let her in.
At some point, the man fired two shots, police said.
Reports of shots fired. Anyone near Mass Ave and Murat should clear out. DO NOT head that direction to check out the scene. @FOX59

There weren’t any hostages and the adjacent apartments were evacuated.
A lady on the street tells us her mom is in the apt directly above this guy.. Mom could hear talking before but now it's quiet.

I just talked to her mom over the phone, Doris McDonald. She says she heard screaming, "I love you! I love you!" The guy sounded upset.

She said no one has come around to tell her to stay inside. I told her stay put. She said its quiet right now.

At about 2:20 a.m. the SWAT team was able to get the suspect in custody.
We are still waiting for all the details on exactly how they were able to get the man in custody and what led him to barricade himself in the apartment in the first place.
