Thieves steal batteries from Decatur Township school buses

INDIANAPOLIS (May 28, 2014) – Someone stole batteries from four school buses in Decatur Township Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the bus yard in the 4300 block of Decatur Boulevard around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.

According to school officials, the batteries were stolen from special needs buses. Whoever did it cut a hole in a chain link fence to gain access. Mechanics discovered the theft between 5:45 a.m. and 6:15 a.m.

Workers had new batteries for the buses, and they were able to operate with minor delays. Investigators were checking surveillance video of the theft.
