KOKOMO, Ind. – One crime in one night wasn’t enough for some Kokomo crooks.

Police are looking for the thieves who used stolen property to then steal again. In just a matter of hours, they got away with a truck, a trailer, and two riding lawn mowers. The stolen goods were worth more than $50,000.

The thieves were caught on camera at each of the two businesses.

“I wanted to reach through the screen but that wasn’t possible,” said Brad Zeck, owner of North Central Outdoor Power.

On Monday morning, when Zeck showed up to work an employee asked him if he had moved a mower. Zeck couldn’t find the mower and that’s when he checked the surveillance cameras.

“It’s a real aggravating feeling to know that that somebody wants to go as far as to do that,” said Zeck.

The day before the theft, surveillance camera footage shows a white pickup truck passing through the back of the business near service shop.  When it gets dark, that same truck comes back and parks.  You can see at least one suspect, if not two walked around two mowers.

“I think they’re checking to see whether it will fit in the trailer, measuring it, they’re checking out, seeing if that’s what they want to steal I guess,” said Zeck.

About an hour later, a dark colored truck with an attached trailer shows up.  Footage shows thieves getting out, loading up two mowers, and taking off. Following behind, is the same white truck that was captured earlier.

“I’m just hoping it doesn’t happen to anyone else,” said Zeck.

Unfortunately it did. A few miles down the road, Huston Electric reported a truck and trailer missing. Police believe the thieves hit Huston Electric first, and then used the stolen property at North Central Outdoor Power.

“They took something that wasn’t theirs. I wouldn’t expect them to want me to come to their place and do the same thing. They got to live with themselves on it,” said Zeck.

The stolen trailer from Huston Electric had a Harley Davidson decal on it.  Surveillance video from North Central Outdoor Power shows the trailer used to steal the mowers also had a Harley Davidson logo on it

“They were on a mission. They had a plan. They executed it. I’m hoping they get a chance to watch this interview tonight and I hope they feel good about what they did,” said Zeck.

If the thieves didn’t get away with enough during their crime spree, Zeck is willing to give them something else at no charge. Advice.

“Everybody works hard and tries to make a living and I would suggest just going to get a job and work hard at it just like everybody else does,” said Zeck.
