BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (February 14, 2016) – Heavy snow in central Indiana is causing slick roads and hazardous driving conditions.

Indiana State Police and the Lebanon Police Department responded to a crash on NB I-65 at 1:30 p.m.

An estimated 40 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes from the 138 mile marker up to the 140 mile marker. Over 30 people were treated and transferred to local hospitals. One of the most severe incidents required an extrication of a patient who had suffered a broken leg.

Interstate 65 reopened around 6:15 p.m. State police would also like to remind drivers that the roadways throughout central Indiana are snow covered and hazardous. Only travel if necessary, reduce your speed significantly, and allow ample space between you and the vehicle in front of you.
