VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – Three people are dead after their truck collided with a train in Vigo County Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. at the Gallagher Road and Rio Grande Crossing in the northeastern part of the county.

Officials located a pickup truck north of the crossing with extensive damage.

All three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by the Vigo County Coroner’s Office.  They were identified as Brian Rickard, 30, Ryan Cook, 24, and Ashlee Pugh, 20.  Authorities said Rickard and Pugh were ejected and pinned underneath the truck.

The investigation is still underway, and it is believed that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash. Police also said no one was wearing their seat belt.

Police said all warning signals and gates were functioning normally at the railroad crossing.
