Four people shot, 1 dead on city’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 9, 2014)– Four people were shot on the city’s east side, Friday night. One was killed.

Police responded to the intersection of  E. New York and N. Denny streets just before 10 p.m., after several calls to 911 reporting hearing gunshots.

Police found two people at that location who had been shot. One was critically wounded and pronounced dead on the scene. The other was taken to Eskenazi in stable condition.

Two more victims were found nearby, at 118 N. Bradley. Police believe they were both shot at the first location but managed to run a short distance away. Those people were also taken to Eskenazi in stable condition.

Police recovered two guns and several shell casings near the crime scene.

Detectives do not believe this incident is random, but have not yet released suspect information.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency was processing the scene and the Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the identification of the deceased.
