Tornado sirens accidentally set off in Marion County

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 19, 2013) – Many Indianapolis residents got a wake up call they didn’t expect Thursday morning.

Marion County’s tornado sirens sounded even though there was no threat of severe weather or other emergency in the area. Calls and social media messages flooded FOX59 after it happened during the 7 a.m. hour.

Chief Gary Coons from Indianapolis Homeland Security said an Indianapolis Fire Department dispatcher accidentally set off the sirens. Coons emphasized there was no severe weather or emergency threat.
