INDIANAPOLIS (December 16, 2015) – Drivers in Carmel should anticipate added delays as crews work to shift traffic patterns between I-465 and 131st Street.

According to INDOT, Northbound traffic on U.S. 31 is expected to move onto the new bridges over 106th and 116th streets Wednesday. Southbound traffic will make a similar shift on Thursday.

INDOT says these shifts will open the freeway to three lanes in each direction, eliminating the final two traffic signals from U.S. 31 in Carmel. These changes will take place during the day and should be completed by sundown each day.

Drivers exiting northbound U.S. 31 onto 106th Street will use a new ramp just north of I-465. Drivers merging from southbound U.S. 31 onto I-465 will follow a new ramp bridge over 106th Street.

By the end of this week, INDOT expects to have both the eastbound and westbound I-465 exit ramps to U.S. 31 and Meridian Street widened to two lanes.
