Train derailment in Bedford

The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department confirms that several train cars have derailed south of Bedford. First responders were called to the scene just south of the White River a little before 11 a.m.

The Lawrence County Sheriffs Department, Indiana Conservation Officers, Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bedford Fire Department and one IU Health ambulance all responded to the scene. There were no injuries.

CSX  handles the rail and is investigating the incident. Witnesses say about 10 train cars derailed, all of them empty.
