JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. –Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Thursday,  two Indiana State Troopers were involved in a police pursuit in southern  Indiana that ended with both troopers crashing.

Earlier that morning the  Clark County Sheriff’s Department had received a call about a stolen truck from the Thornton’s gas station in Jeffersonville.

A short time later, Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputies located the stolen vehicle on Scottsville Road in Floyd County. As they attempted to stop the vehicle  the driver ignored commands to stop as the pursuit began.

Indiana State Trooper, Brandon Farias, heard of the pursuit on his police radio and went towards the direction of the fleeing driver. As the pursuit reached the intersection of Scottsville Road and Engle Road in Floyd County, the pickup left the roadway and as it reentered,  it struck Trooper Brandon Farias’s  police car. Trooper Farias was stopped when the pickup truck crashed into him.

After the crash, the driver of the Ford pickup truck, Aaron J. Keown, 39, from Jeffersonville, IN, was taken into custody. Neither Trooper Farias nor Aaron J. Keown were injured during the pursuit or crash.
