Two killed in crash on I-70 in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, Ind. (June 21, 2014) — Henry County officials say two people were killed in a crash between two semis and two passenger vehicle on Interstate 70, just west of State Road 3.

Officials confirm two people were killed at the scene and third person, a 13-year-old who was seriously injured, was taken by air ambulance to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis.

Police identified the two who were killed as: Slyvia Shaw and John Shaw of New Brighton, Minnesota.

The two fatalities and the one injury were all in a white Toyota, which was struck from the rear by a semi, driven by Richard Engstrom of Indianapolis.

The Toyota was pushed into the rear of another car and another semi.

All lanes of traffic were closed for about four hours, but reopened around 4 p.m.

Police say traffic was at a stop for an unknown reason when the crash happened and is still under investigation.
