Two parents arrested in death of 3-year-old son

INDIANAPOLIS – Police have arrested two parents in the death of their 3-year-old son.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide Detectives have arrested Nicholas Gulling (left above), 27,  and Sandra Tomich (right above), 35, both of Indianapolis for the death of their 3-year-old son.

The boy was killed December 7 after finding an unattended handgun in his home. The gun discharged, striking the toddler in the head.

Gulling was formally charged with neglect of a dependant causing death (a class “A” felony) and neglect of a dependant (a class “D” felony).

Tomich was formally charged with neglect of dependant (a class “D” felony).

Both suspects are being held in the Marion County Jail on $20,000 (Gulling) and $1000 (Tomich) bonds.

IMPD reminds residents to handle firearms with due regard for the perseveration of life, and ensure firearms are secured in an appropriate location and out of the reach of children or untrained individuals.
