Retired IMPD officer, daughter shot on east side early Monday morning

INDIANAPOLIS (October 19, 2015) – A retired IMPD officer and his daughter are in the hospital after being shot in an east side home early Monday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 3300 block of North Hawthorne Ln. around 1 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, officers say they found a retired IMPD officer and his daughter had been shot.

Police say retired officer was shot in the head and his daughter was shot in the arm.

Both victims were transported to Eskenazi Hospital, the man in critical condition.

Police say a child inside the home at the time of the shooting was not injured.

Homicide units were called to the scene to help with the investigation.

The victims’ conditions have been upgraded to stable, and police say the injuries are non-life threatening.

At this time, officers have not released any suspect information, but they do not believe the retired officer was the real target.

There were also reports of shots fired in this same block Sunday afternoon. Police tell us they are looking into the possibility that these two incidents are connected.
