INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Dinner, flowers and candy are always a good bet for Valentine’s Day. But we’ve come up with three ideas that are a bit different, and they’re local!

Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday, but there’s no reason to begin your romantic weekend on Friday.

Here are three new ideas you can try:

Swing Dancing in Fountain Square

On Friday, Feb. 12, you can enjoy swing dancing at the Fountain Square Theatre. Don’t know how? No problem! Dance lessons are offered from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for only $2.

The dance follows and goes until 11:30 p.m.

“If you already know what you're doing, and you’ve got some sweet moves, you can come just to the dance for $10,” said dance instructor Kerry Kapaku.

The instructors are from NapStomp. They’re fun, skilled and they encourage anyone to come!

So bring a date or come stag to enjoy the band and bar.

Indiana Art Fair

The 13th Annual Indiana Art Fair is Friday, Feb. 12 at the Indiana State Museum, and this year they are doing something different. The event is called Galentine’s.

“You can celebrate it by bringing your best gal pals out to celebrate Valentine’s weekend,” said Carrie Miller, public programs manager for Indiana State Museum. “You can mix and mingle with the artists, enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and beverages. You can also shop among the 60 artists and enjoy an art class where you paint your own masterpiece.”

The entire event costs $45, or $35 if you’re a member. You can use your Friday night ticket to get into the museum the next day.

Partner Yoga & Massage

For just $45, you can also take a fun class that might help you find love or deepen what you already have. Invoke Studios is offering a Valentine’s Day partner yoga and massage.

“You are really connecting with your partner. You will be doing poses together, and you'll massage your partner,” said owner Amy Peddycord. “It's a great way to connect and you don't have to have any experience with yoga, you can be brand new.”

The studio has two locations: downtown and at 86th and Ditch.

If you’re interested, call soon because spots fill up fast.
