WEST COVINA, California (February 16, 2016) – A woman in California is accused of giving birth in a Subway restroom and then abandoning the baby. And new surveillance video released by Subway shows that the woman was only in the restroom for ten minutes.
According to KTLA, Mary Grace Trinidad, 38, of West Covina, was arrested for attempted murder and child abandonment on February 15 in an alleyway behind the Subway restaurant. Officers found her by following a trail of blood.
An employee found the crying newborn baby boy in the bathroom after seeing the bleeding woman leave the store. An umbilical cord was seen hanging out from the toilet and the newborn baby boy was found partially submerged in the toilet water. Trinidad left the placenta in the trash can. The baby was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Trinidad was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Following her release, she will be booked in the jail, and her bond will be set at $2 million. According to police, Trinidad also had a $30,000 narcotics-related warrant outstanding for her arrest.
