A vote on a new citywide towing contract is now on hold.
According to Fox 59’s newsgathering partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal, the Board of Code Enforcement has requested more information on the out-of-state company up for the contract.
California-based “Auto Return” has bid on a five-year contract to manage roughly 29,000 tows ordered by the city each year. Currently, three local firms split the work, with tows divided by assigned zones.
City leaders want to streamline the towing process, avoid predatory towing practices and save Hoosiers money.
The board wants to learn more about “Auto Return” and the local companies that have submitted bids on the project.
