Single lanes back open after water main break closes College Avenue between 71st and 75th Streets

UPDATE (3:18 p.m. September 19): Park Tudor will reopen on Friday, Sept. 20.

UPDATE (10:55 p.m. September 18): Citizens Energy says one lane is now open in each direction and the two middle lanes will likely remain closed until midday on Thursday September, 19.

UPDATE: According to their website, Park Tudor School will be closed on Thursday, September 19 due to the water main break on College Avenue. All events that were scheduled to take place are also canceled. Coaches and/or athletic directors will be in touch with teams regarding plans for away matches and games.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is reporting that a portion of College Avenue is closed on the city’s north side.

A tweet from @MSDW_Safety, Safety and Security of Washington Township Schools, said College Avenue has been closed between 71st and 75th Streets due to the road buckling, possibly from a water main break.

Citizens Energy Group said in a statement:

“College Avenue is closed between 71st and 75th Streets as Citizens Energy Group repairs a broken water main. The 12-inch-diameter cast iron main was installed in 1940. A timeline for repairs has not yet been determined.”
