A water main break leaves 70 homes without water on the south side.

The geyser was spewing on Hanna Avenue, just east of Rural Street, early Tuesday morning.

Citizens Energy says a car may have hit a fire hydrant, causing the water main to break.

Technicians were on site trying to get the flow under control and shut down the main just after 4 a.m.

The company said 70 homes would have to go without water for 6 to 8 hours. The people affected live on Hanna Avenue, Rural Street and Fetlock Drive.

The east bound lane of Hanna will also be closed from just east of Rural to Feltlock Drive, while repairs are made. This lane is expected to be closed through the morning rush hour.
