INDIANAPOLIS – Several residents are displaced this morning after an apartment fire on the city’s west side.
Wayne Township firefighters were called to the Heather Ridge Apartments shortly before midnight.
When they arrived, crews said they found heavy fire coming from a second floor window.
According to fire officials, there was zero visibility inside the apartment, and the fire began to spread down the hallway of the building before crews were able to get the blaze under control.
Wayne Township was assisted by the Indianapolis, Speedway and Pike Township fire departments.
Firefighters say a dog was rescued but no injuries were reported. Eight apartments were damaged and six families are displaced.
The fire caused about $100 thousand in damage, but the cause is still under investigation.
