Meanwhile, the field of the 99th Indianapolis 500 will join more than 9,000 Indianapolis Public Schools students for the annual Indy 500 Community Day.

Community Day consisted of activities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in years past, but this year IMS is partnering with IPS to take drivers outside the Speedway to interact with young people at its annual Field Day.

"Community Day is a wonderful time to generate excitement for the Indianapolis 500 and this year's edition is unique," said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. "To be able to introduce our starting field to thousands of Indianapolis Public School students is a great opportunity, and I think by the end of the day we'll have a few thousand new race fans."

The event is at Fitness Farm, 2525 W. 44th Street, and drivers will participate, assist and cheer on kids as they engage in a variety of health and wellness events.
