POCATELLO, ID (Dec. 16, 2014)– An 1,000-pound heifer escaped from a meat processing plant after jumping over a 6-foot fence.
Police and animal control officers chased the animal for about one mile through several neighborhoods.
Officers decided to shoot the cow, killing it, for fear the animal would hurt someone after it reportedly ran through a playground and nearly caused a car crash.
According to the Idaho State Journal, the cow rammed into an animal control truck and two police cars in residential neighborhoods.
Police said an officer had shot the cow earlier, but the cow continued running through the streets.
