KNOXVILLE, TN (September 11, 2014) – Knoxville’s WATE-TV had an unexpected visitor fly from the rafters of the studio – a bat!

Anchor Tearsa Smith said, “Out of nowhere the bat comes about this far from my face. It dive bombed us and you could literally hear me screaming because we’re on TV and I get that and it’s a newscast, but I was gone!”

According to WATE, despite several attempts by staff and Animal Control, the bat evaded capture for several hours.

Eventually though, with the help of the professional crew the Varmint Busters, the intruder was caught.

Varmint Busters said they would release the bat into a wooded area.
