SANTA CLAUS, Ind. (Sept. 24, 2015) – Life is a roller coaster, and sometimes so is a proposal.

Two Anderson University students proved that when they got engaged on “The Voyage” at Holiday World on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Austin Crecelius and Allison Boyle are both seniors at Anderson. Austin had a friend record the proposal with a cell phone—an act that earns an admonishment to “put your cell phones away.”

Still, the clip ended up on YouTube.

“At one point in time you had mentioned to me that life is like a roller coaster. And it’s got its up and downs, it’s got twists and turns, and it even throws you for a loop sometimes,” Austin says during the video. “And though you can go by yourself, it’s a lot more fun to go with another person. So I wanted to ask you if you wanted to be my roller coaster buddy. Allie, will you marry me?”

Austin tried to put the ring on her finger, but she gave him her hand a little late and he decided to hold off. Midway through the ride, he shows a white t-shirt saying “She said yes!”

After the ride ended, Austin put the ring on Allie’s finger and walked her down the exit ramp. His parents and church friends were waiting for them.

That wasn’t the end of the surprises, however.

Austin revealed that the ring he gave her on the roller coaster wasn’t the real one. He took it off, got down on one knee, and proposed with the real ring.

Austin said he picked Holiday World for the proposal because he’s loved roller coasters since he was little.
