LOUISBURG, N.C. (Nov. 17, 2014) – The $37 million contract wasn’t worth the punishment—and a former NFL player found his calling plowing fields in North Carolina.
St. Louis Rams center Jason Brown quit football to become a farmer in Louisburg, N.C., CBS News reports.
He finds it more fulfilling than sports even though he didn’t know anything about farming. Brown watched YouTube videos and talked to local farmers before buying 1,000 acres to grow cucumbers and sweet potatoes.
His agent wasn’t a fan of the idea.
“My agent told me, ‘You’re making the biggest mistake of your life,’” Brown told CBS. “And I looked right back at him and I said, ‘No I’m not. No I’m not.’”
Brown said his plan was inspired by God and plans to give large amounts of his crop to the needy.
“When you see them pop up out of the ground, man, it’s the most beautiful thing you could ever see.”
