ALLEN COUNTY – A traffic stop by Indiana State Police turned into a brief chase after troopers tried to stop a woman for a traffic violation.

Shortly after midnight, state troopers tried to stop the Dodge pickup truck near Mayhew Road and Old Leo Road. Instead of stopping, police said the truck took off, running several stop signs and ignoring traffic signals before crashing into a concrete median barrier near Dupont Road and Coldwater Road. The impact left the truck with a flat tire and it stopped about a mile later.

The driver, Heather Jones, 26, Albion, got out and started walking away before police stopped her. Jones faces several criminal and traffic charges, including resisting in a vehicle and receiving stolen auto parts.

Records showed the truck had been reported stolen in Kosciusko County. Jones was taken to Allen County Jail.
