INDIANAPOLIS (February 12, 2016) – A woman is in serious condition after setting herself and her condo on fire.

Firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department were called to the 3200 block of Lupine Drive around 8:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a call about smoke showing from a condo building.

When they arrived on scene, firefighters say they found heavy fire showing from the roof, and a woman and her dog outside of the building.

The woman told crews on scene that she was lighting a cigarette when her hair accidentally caught fire. As she attempted to put her hair out, she caught nearby items on fire, which quickly spread throughout the condo.

Investigators estimate the fire caused about $80,000 in damage.

The woman was transported to Eskenazi in serious condition.
