Woman sentenced for role in death of 5-year-old girl

A woman arrested in connection with the death of a 5-year-old Delaware County girl was sentenced Monday.

Angela Lee was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to her role in the death of Lauren McConniel, who died in 2010.  Police said the young girl was physically abused and severely malnourished.

Lee was among five family members who were prosecuted in McConniel’s death.  The 5-year-old girl’s father, Ryan McConniel, is also expected to be sentenced Monday.  His wife and the girl’s stepmother, Brittany McConniel, was sentenced to 50 years in prison after being convicted of neglect resulting indeath.

Lee is the mother of Brittany McConniel.
