Wrong-way driver causes three-car crash on I-65

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 12, 2014) — A driver going the wrong way caused a three-car crash sending two people to the hospital early Sunday morning. It happened on I-65 northbound near the 38th Street exit around 4 a.m.

A female driver in a silver Chevrolet Cavalier came off the Kessler Boulevard ramp driving the wrong way, onto the northbound ramp from 38th Street leading onto I-65. That car struck a black Chevy Malibu driven by a man with a female passenger.

A third car also involved, hit a retaining wall about a half mile down the road. The driver was not hurt.

The woman driving the wrong-way car was alert and conscious when she was taken to the hospital.

The other driver and passenger were not seriously injured but were also taken to the hospital.

The right lane of I-65 northbound was closed near 38th street as crews cleaned up the crash. Two westbound lanes of 38th St. were also closed.
