Are you ready for some football? If you are a long time fan of the Old Oaken Bucket game between Indiana and Purdue you always are. Both teams will square off for the 123rd time Saturday in Bloomington but as far as a “Bucket Match-up” it will just be the 90th time.
In case you were wondering, here is a little history of the “Old Oaken Bucket” game.
The Old Oaken Bucket is the traveling trophy awarded between the football teams from Indiana University and Purdue University. The bucket was first awarded in 1925.
Indiana and Purdue first got together on the gridiron in 1891. They have played every year in peacetime, except for 1903. Purdue leads the overall series 72–38–6. The Boilermakers have won 13 of the last 17 games.
Indiana won the 2013 contest 56–36 in Bloomington.
