Andrew Luck reigns supreme—and jersey sales back that up.

MainGate Inc.—the company that handles Colts merchandise—said that 67 percent of all Colts jerseys sold this year feature Luck’s name and number. Luck’s #12 jersey is outselling the second-most popular Colts player by a 10 to 1 margin, the company said.

According to our newsgathering partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal, Luck’s jersey is finding popularity even outside the Indianapolis area. His jersey ranks sixth in sales among all NFL players.

The website—a sports merchandise retailer—said Luck ranked eighth among all professional athletes for Cyber Monday sales. The Colts quarterback outsold stars including Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

Those same Cyber Monday sales figures show that Luck continues to be linked to the careers of fellow rookie Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins and former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who now plays for the Denver Broncos. Griffin and Manning ranked first and second in Cyber Monday jersey sales, said.

MainGate officials told the IBJ that Luck’s play on the field and likability off it are keys to the rising sales of his jersey.

While Manning was a visible pitchman in Indianapolis—and remains so nationally and in the Denver market—Luck has been more measured in his business deals.

He announced a partnership with Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health during the fall and is touting a campaign for the Indianapolis Public Library.
