BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- This week the IU basketball program announced that Collin Hartman underwent a successful surgery on his knee after injuring it last Wednesday. The team has not released a time table for his return, but knee injuries are never a quick recovery. Friday afternoon Tom Crean spoke with the media about numerous topics but when he addressed his senior's injury, the head coach got emotional.

"It's hard, it's just hard. I just love that kid," Coach Crean said through tears.

"He's been through so much, and I know you guys are gonna ask me about timelines but I don't have a timeline because I'm most concerned about his mindset, he just got back here. That guy was putting so much into getting ready to be our senior leader and we're gonna need it, we need that right now. But most importantly we need to help lead him."

During the 2015-2016 season, Hartman averaged 5 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game.
